Function Report - Guild Christmas Party
25th November 2007
The
Guild’s Annual Christmas Party was conducted at Buchanan Park in
Berwick on Sunday 25th November 2007. Despite some
misgivings among the committee because of poor attendance at the
2006 Christmas Party, this year’s party was a great success
with some 75 adults and 40 children coming along to enjoy the
festivities.
The
Committee catered for this function and provided salads with
chicken and ham. The Party has a format that has survived the
test of time. There was plenty of food available for all our
guests, accompanied by some wines from the Guild’s cellar.
 After
the first course, some enjoyed traditional races such as
children’s sprints, ladies’ dashes and gentlemen’s gallops.
The more mature attendees watched the frolics of the youthful.
Unfortunately some gentlemen’s competitive spirit overcame
their physical condition and some hamstrings will need some rest
and recuperation and massage over the next few days. One
feature of the races was the Ladies’ Egg and Spoon Race: another
was the President’s variation of musical chairs without the
chairs.
Strawberries and
Cream, plus a small cheese platter ended the luncheon, after
which the traditional raffle was conducted.
The
committee is to be congratulated for providing another great
function, and all are looking forward to Breakfast on the Yarra
on the first Sunday in February 2008. The Breakfast is another
function like the Christmas Party where members and guests have
the opportunity to talk and socialise in a relaxed convivial
atmosphere. Why not join us?
